World of Warcraft Board Game - Let s get this out of the way at the start: set aside some time for this game. It s worth it, but don t expect to finish in under 2 hours. This kind of play time might put some people off, but I find it a relaxing way to spend an afternoon with a few close friends.World of Warcraft is the internet phenomenon of the moment. The Massively Multi-player Online RolePlaying Game (MMORPG for all you acronym aficionados) is one of the most popular of its type, played around the world by thousands (millions) of gamers. This board game is a tie-in with the licence, and as such will probably be of most interest to players of the online game, but don t be afraid to give it a try even if you don t know your Ironforge from your Kalimdor.Much like its online cousin the WoW board game features brave heroes traversing the world of Azeroth, completing quests and fighting monsters. The players are divided into two opposing teams (the Horde vs. the Alliance) and must work together in order to win. Victory comes from crushing the opposing side in the final battle (there is a turn counter to indicate when the game ends and the battle begins) or defeating the Overlord before the turn counter runs out.Turns alternate between the two sides, with players on the same side having two actions. Actions involve moving somewhere on the (huge) map board, fighting a creature, or advancing your character. Just like the online game your character will improve in ability as time goes by (to use the lingo - you will go up levels). Each side can have up to 3 players and cooperation is the name of the game. Whilst you can wander off alone, there needs to be a team plan of action or your opponents will walk all over you.The rules are detailed, but again don t let that put you off. This just means they can cover all eventualities. Actual gameplay involves choosing two of five actions per turn. Play through a couple of turns and you will find yourself referencing the rulebook less and less. The rules become intuitive and the booklet is filled with examples to aid understanding. The final thing to mention has to be the contents of the box. Words almost can t begin to describe how much stuff this game comes with. There are over a hundred detailed monster figures, plenty of tokens, a large well-presented map board, and much more. This game is great fun but it is a monster. It will take time, but there is just so much there you won t mind.(And if you are old enough to remember Heroquest or Talisman, check this game out, it might be right up your street)

Very nice game, not interactive enough - The WoW board game is a very good adaptation of the video game. Most of the major elements are there, with quests, character classes and levels etc. It is quite complex, which I like since it s a greater challenge.I find the only real problem to be the lack of interaction between players. The game is modelled on the PvE (player versus environment) part of WoW, and when I play with my son it s quite common for one of us to wander off and do something else while the other is taking his turn. This is why I have deducted a star.Generally, a lot of fun though, and a very nicely made game with quality components. You do need a lot of space, though!

A Bit massive - This is a realy Fun game...... When u manage to play it.Me and my friend have been playing the online game for about a year now, but it still took us a few hours to figure out how this game works , and some aspects are realy not explaned enough in the play guide so we modeled it to the online game as we could.Another thing is... be prepared to use a HUGE table , we where using a 6 person dining table and it realy wasn t enough space for all the stuff .So.. Yes! this Game is wourth buying and playing , But make sure u have enough space, and be prepared to spend a few hours for u r first game
